Rebecca St.Clair

Commissioner at Large

City of Muskegon

"In the past four years we have taken huge steps forward, and I want to keep that momentum going."

Our Successes!
  • We’ve rebuilt our Parks and Recreation Department, investing millions in improvements to keep our kids busy and safe.

  • We’re closing the housing gap! We either have built, or are in the process of building, 1600 homes, at all price points.

  • Muskegon’s Pride Festival continues to grow. We just had our biggest one yet, with 11,500 people attending.

  • We replaced three fire trucks and increased staffing and pay for both the fire and police departments.

Hi, I’m Rebecca St.Clair, and I am running for reelection for a second term as an At Large Commissioner for the City of Muskegon. I am proud to be a member of the first majority female commission in the history of the city and to serve as the Vice Mayor.

Some reasons voters chose me to represent them at City Hall:

  • I hold a master’s degree in social work with a second master’s degree in public administration. This combination of credentials and lived experiences uniquely equips me with the ability to lead at this important time for the City of Muskegon. I will be a champion for the whole community, including those with no voice at the table.

  • I have worked for Muskegon County for 20 years and serve as a Clinical Manager for HealthWest Youth Services.

  • I am a wife, and the mother of two proud Muskegon High School graduates.

  • I have a long history of civic engagement and volunteering. I am currently serving on the board of Mediation and Restorative Services and as a Board Trustee of Harbor Unitarian Universalist Congregation. I also serve as the Commission Liaisons for the Muskegon Housing Commission and the Muskegon Farmers Market.

I moved to Muskegon almost 24 years ago and immediately knew that Muskegon was home. I love my community, and I've loved watching it grow and change. That growth can and should benefit us all. Equity, justice and inclusion are as important as commerce and economics, and I bring that balance to our discussions at the commission table.

Community voice and collaboration is vital to keeping a healthy balance. The people who live here need to benefit as much as the developers and business interests helping to move the city forward. We have accomplished so much in the past four years, and I would love to be part of the change as we keep moving forward.

It’s been my honor and privilege to serve as Commissioner at Large for the City of Muskegon for the last four years. My goal has been to support Muskegon in becoming a community where people can live, work and play… and feel safe… whoever they are and no matter what their family looks like.

Of course, this isn’t a one-woman job. Building a vibrant community takes all of us working together, including you.

Here are some ways you can help:

Volunteer

We need your help spreading the word to voters across the city.

  • Can you help us go door to door or make phone calls?

  • Would you rather host a meet and greet event and introduce me to your people?

  • How about a yard sign for your front lawn?

  • Do you have other skills or talents you'd like to share?

Donate

Of course, donations are essential to the work as well.

Our biggest expense will likely be printed literature (plus the postage fees to mail it out). The more money we raise, the more people we reach, and the better our chance of continuing our success!

Please share what you can.
